Why nobody sees your content

When reach collapses, the algorithm gets the blame. It is almost never the algorithm. It is one of three things, and all three are fixable.

One: the first second

Platforms measure whether people keep watching. If a meaningful share leave in the first second, distribution stops permanently for that post.

Most business content opens with a logo animation, a slow establishing shot, or someone saying "Hey guys." All three are exit ramps.

Open on the most interesting frame you have. Not the most beautiful. The most interesting. Those are different things.

Two: the rhythm

Posting nine times in one week and then nothing for a month reads as an abandoned account. Consistency matters more than volume, and consistency is a production problem, not a discipline problem.

If you are producing content one piece at a time, you will always be inconsistent. Batch it. One shoot day should cover weeks.

Three: it is about you

Most business content is announcements. New listing. New hire. Happy holidays. Nobody outside the company cares, and the numbers reflect that accurately.

Content that travels does one of three things:

  • Teaches something the audience did not know
  • Shows something they have not seen
  • Says something they were already thinking

Reframe the announcement. "New listing at 1247 Oak" is an announcement. "This is what $850k buys in North Park right now" is a market update that happens to feature your listing.

Same property. Same shoot. Entirely different reach.
